For an air filter, the ratio of the volumetric gas flow rate through a filter medium to the filter area. For the shaker filter and reverse flow filter the typical value is in the range 0.3 to 2.3 m/min whereas for the pulse-jet filter the value is higher and typically in the range 1.5 to 4.5 m/min to reflect the greater throughput. Sometimes referred to as the gas-to-cloth ratio.
